Well designed cooktop, enjoyable to use

Based on 2 months of use (so far) this cooktop deserves a high rating. I find it thoughtfully designed, with a number of little touches that add to usability. Example: the power switch is protected against accidental turn-ons by requiring a quite firm press down. However, let your finger rest gently on it for 2 or 3 seconds, and then only a light touch is needed. Clever. 6 different sizes of burners are available (which makes for a lot of flexibility in pot/pan sizes), and all work promptly and control temperature properly. Temp controls are intuitive and easily accessed. The minimalist interface is not conspicuous (you have to look twice to find the brand name) and the manual gives a number of options the user can configure. Because of the minimal control area and burners with just a bare outline, from more than a yard or two away the cooktop looks like just a big black slab, a handsome kitchen addition. See photo. I should add that I had previously bought a new much cheaper unit from a one-time all-American manufacturer (it is now controlled by corporate interests noted for cheaper products). It lasted just 21/2 years, then destroyed itself in a spectacular series of internal short circuits. Sadder (and out a thousand bucks) but wiser I opted for a Bosch this time around, which is made in Germany. The Bosch is clearly better designed and better made (details would make the review too long), and I hope for a long life as well since it is enjoyable to use in the kitchen (I cook a lot). You do get what you pay for, and if you spend any amount of time in the kitchen, I highly recommend this Bosch cooktop.

We have just purchased our replacement Bosch cooktop because the first one cracked twice - first crack has an unknown origin, the second crack was from me leaning on it, trying to be really careful and minimizing pressure, to wipe the backsplash. You cannot put any pressure on this, amazes me how it holds a stockpot. We had to replace our original because our granite was cut to fit this item 😱
Hoping we have better luck with this one now that we know how fragile it is.

I recently bought this cooktop to replace a Bosch electric cooktop that I had for ten years and was very happy with. The new cooktop functions very well but has several deficits. (1) The touch controls are not sensitive enough and I often have to push more than once to get them to engage. (2) The center burner only has 2 rings and previous cooktop had 3 rings which accommodated my extra large cookware. (3) This ccoktop does not have the Keep Warm function which was very useful on previous model. (4) Surface of this cooktop is difficult to keep clean and smear free. Finally, my local dealer promised to deliver the cooktop within 2 weeks of purchase but it took about 10 weeks to get it.

Love the 5 burners, love that nothing hinders cleaning because there are no handles/controls, and five burners is great for holidays.

When its works it's great. But it keeps getting error codes on all burners. Have to turn breaker off for about three to five days. And that is how long before service can get here. So hard for them to see what is going on.
