We thought we were getting the beverage cooler with the reversible shelves. I called Albo appliance and they said they are similar model numbers, my user guide was for the model with reversible shelves but in the box was the wine cooler with permanent wood racks, I didn™€™t realize till after it was installed. 2 failures in 3 years of owning

We purchased this unit in 2022 and it has failed twice in three years. In addition to being as noisy as all the other reviews state, the fan failed in early 2024 and there was a significant build up of ice in the rear of the unit. The ice eventually melted, causing water leaks that would have damaged our floor if we hadn't placed a water detector in the back. Of course this happened out of warranty, so we paid $400 to repair it, which involved replacing the fan. Fast forward to December 2025, and we see the same exact issue. We will never buy another GE wine fridge again and will instead invest in a more reputable brand. The fact that their warranty is only one year compared to other wine fridges tells you how confident GE is in this product.

Shelving does not allow for viewing wine labels

Nice looking wine cooler, and not noisy, but I'm unhappy with the shelving - shelves do not pull out enough to be able to see wine labels on the back row wines without having to take out the first row wines and pull back wines out to view labels. I was thinking maybe the shelves were not properly installed, but after a call with customer service, that does not seem to be the case. Also only standard wine bottles fit - the slightest difference from standard size will not allow the wine bottle to fit on the rack. We replaced a subzero that broke but wishing we would have fixed it now since it did not have this issue at all. Unless I'm missing something - please help!

Mold Issues

Our fridge started to condensate and develop mold inside the top zone. The racks began developing black spots and spoiled our wine that was really expensive. We tried calling to get this repaired under a warranty since it appeared to be something wrong internally but the technician said it was the seal for the door which we never had any issues with. We now are in need to replace the fridge because we are afraid it is now a hazzard with mold.

We have had 4 techs out our home to address how obnoxiously noisy our wine cooler is. Three from the company whom we purchased it from and one directly through GE. All determined that was significantly noisier than should reasonably be expected. Despite this the GE case manager closed the case and stated that it was part of normal function. There is nothing NORMAL about this NOISE! We purchased a off brand wine cooler for our previous home from Lowes less than 5yrs ago that was the same dimensions as this one and same general functionality for a fraction of the price of this GE product and it ran quietly. We decided to go with this more expensive one that matched our other appliances in our new home and have been utterly disappointed in it and the customer service we have received from GE.

Paid a premium for the GE name expecting a top quality product. This wine refrigerator is extremely noisy when the compressor is running. After two service calls and a complete replacement of the compressor, it is just as loud. Very disappointed in this unit.

Our previous wine cooler was a GE Profile that lasted from 2004 until just recently (2024). It worked like a charm and was so quiet that you hardly knew it was running. Therefore, we felt very confident when ordering another GE Profile wine cooler. Although it is an attractive appliance and is doing its job in terms of holding the temperatures, we are sorely disappointed in how noisy it is. We were ready to call GE about the different sounds emitting from the cooler when we found the following in the manual under Troubleshooting Tips: "The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old appliance and you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating." Yes, indeed! It also says: "The flow of refrigerant through the appliance cooling coils may make a gurgling noise like boiling water." Yes, indeed! The difference between the older version of this wine cooler and the new version is very disheartening. The new one is rarely quiet. How is it that the older version of this wine cooler worked beautifully and quietly for 20 years, but the new one is so noisy? Had we known, we would not have purchased it.

Pretty but noisy

This has to be one of the worst appliances I™€™ve owned. It was installed as an upgrade to our builder™€™s package. When we moved in, it was making strange noises and gurgling. We called the warranty center for help. They were quick to respond and diagnosed a failed fan. In the end, it took over 3 months to get the part in and installed. It was still making noises after the repair so they came back and recharged the refrigerant. That night the refrigerant leaked out through a pinhole in the line. Service came back and made further repairs and now it does stay cool. It still makes gurgling noises in the line and has now developed a rattle when it goes through a cooling cycle. I asked about having it replaced with a new unit but GE wasn™€™t willing to do that yet. Now we are out of warranty so I think we™€™re stuck with it. Maybe I got a lemon but my advice, look for another product or brand. This one isn™€™t worth the premium price.

Brand new wine fridge is beyond terrible. We have had GE repair in our house 6 times. New fan, new compresor, and it still gurgles all the time. Super loud (louder than the dishwasher running at times). Friends ask "whats that noise". Oh, it's our brand new G.E. wine fridge. G.E. has decided they are done trying to help and that it is normal operation. Do not buy this or any other G.E. items if this is how they take care of new appliances!

If you carefully read the reviews below you'll see that many customers report unusual noises. Unfortunately we had the same experience. GE knew this design was flawed because they describe the unusual noises in the owners manual and indicate that they are "normal" for this model.. I've gone all the way to the GE executive committee but they refuse to either acknowledge that the noises are not normal or replace this expensive appliance with a model that does not have design flaws. I only wished I had read the reviews before my purchase, but shame on GE for not issuing a recall and owning their design problem. As others have said, apparently they sold the appliance division but allow their name to continue to be used. My advice, buy LG or another brand. GE is no longer the firm it used to be.

Simply not worth the money

Worked with telephone Customer Service for almost a year, now waiting for a response from headquarters from a letter.
